Education & Research
Doctors & Nurses
We are all interested in continuing professional development and regularly attend courses to update and extend our knowledge and skills. Dr Law has completed an MA in Medical Humanities and Nurse Practitioner Sue Russell qualified as a nurse prescriber. Drs Baruch and Law completed a certificate in Palliative Care in June 2005.
Registrar
We are a training practice which requires us to demonstrate high levels of clinical and organisational work.
Dr Jenner joined us as a registrar in April 2007. She is a fully qualified doctor who has done several hospital jobs but now wishes to specialise in General Practice. She needs experience in the diagnosis and management of the wide range of conditions that we meet in the surgery. She consults on her own but another doctor is always available to help if she is unsure what to do.
Students
We feel we have a duty to make sure that there are good doctors and nurses for the future. We currently have links with St. George's Medical School, and teach medical students in the practice. We also sometimes have nursing students.
If a student is present there will be a notice up on that day. If you wish to see the doctor or nurse without the student, please say so, the student will leave, and the consultation will go on as normal.
Medical Research Council (MRC)
We take part in some medical research projects sponsored by the Medical Research Council. You may be invited to join in one of these, but if you do not wish to take part, you are free to refuse and your care will continue as normal. Previous projects have included medical reviews for over 75s, asthma treatments, atrial fibrillation and HRT.
