Services & Clinics

We offer a clinic on a Saturday morning every alternate week. Please contact the surgery for dates. The clinic is for patients who work outside the area and cannot attend during normal surgery hours (or for people whose carers fall into this category who can only come at this time). The surgery will be solely for pre-booked appointments, not the full range of our usual services.

If you have not attended the surgery in the last three years and have so specific illnesses, we are happy to see you for a well person check. Your blood pressure and BMI (body mass index) will be measured and you have the opportunity to discuss any other health issues. Please make an appointment to see one of the health care assistants.

Some men may prefer to see a male doctor for certain problems. Dr Batavia runs a Man to Man Clinic on Monday evenings. You may, of course, book to see him or another doctor at other times if it is more convenient.

We provide a full range of family planning services including diaphragm, intrauterine devices (IUCDs) and Implanon fittings. Dr Baikie has a dedicated clinic on Tuesday evenings for both men and women, but appointments can also be made at other times and with other doctors.

A midwife visits the surgery on Wednesday afternoons for an ante-natal clinic. Doctors are available to be seen at other times.

Midwifes visit mothers and babies at home shortly after birth. These appointments are arranged directly with the midwife. We like to see mother and baby at the surgery when the baby is two weeks old to meet the new arrival and make sure all is going well. Health visitors will also make contact during this time. We are always happy to see parents of young babies at the surgery at any time if they have concerns.

Doctors provide a child development check for babies at six to eight weeks and health visitors for pre-school children. Please do come and see us if you are worried about your child's development at any age.

We encourage all children to have the full range of baby and pre-school vaccinations to protect them from potentially serious illnesses. Please make an appointment with one of our nurses. We are happy to discuss the vaccination programme with you if you have any questions.

Health visitors run a clinic on Thursday afternoons to weigh and measure babies and young children and discuss any concerns.

Please make an appointment with one of our nurses, Sue Russell or Jo McGregor, at least six weeks before your holiday for travel vaccinations. This ensures that the vaccinations have time to work. Before your appointment you will need to fill in a travel questionnaire (click here to download).

Dr Baruch runs a minor operations and cryotherapy (freezing) clinic with the help of one of the health care assistants to treat some skin problems. Please make an appointment to see her if you think you might need this service.

Flu vaccinations are offered every year from October to all people over the age of 65 and to younger people with chronic diseases such as heart disease, asthma, COPD, liver or kidney disease or those who are immunosuppressed for any reason. Please speak to reception to make an appointment.

Most blood samples needed for diagnosis and monitoring can be taken at the surgery by our phlebotomy team. If you need to have a blood sample taken, please speak to reception to make an appointment.

Dr Baikie runs a special clinic on Monday afternoons (5.00 pm to 6.30 pm) for both men and women. You may also book into the surgery at another time to see any of the team who will be happy to talk to you about family planning and sexually transmitted diseases. We can screen for chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV and other STDs.

Young people from the age of 12 or 13 may like to see a doctor on their own to discuss health concerns. Dr Baikie runs a clinic on Thursday afternoons (4.10 pm to 4.30 pm), but you are also welcome to book into any regular surgery if you prefer.
