Repeat Prescriptions

Most prescriptions have a tear-off portion listing all your current medication. When you require a repeat, put a tick against the item and return the form to the surgery. You may post it to us, hand it in at reception, or put it in the repeat prescription box in the waiting room.

You can also order a repeat from this website via the online prescription section. First time users are required to complete a simple one-off registration.

Alternatively you may request a repeat by letter or fax. If you would like us to return your prescription by post, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope and allow enough time for delivery.

For safety reasons we do not take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone.

In addition, several pharmacies provide a service for ordering and collecting repeat prescriptions. Please speak to your pharmacy if you would like to make use of this.

Repeat Dispensing

Repeat dispensing is a new service that is available in cooperation with most pharmacies. If your repeat prescription is unlikely to change over a six or twelve month period you may be eligible for repeat dispensing. When you have a review with your doctor you may ask to take part in this. You need to choose one pharmacy to hold your prescriptions and agree that they and your doctor may share information about the scripts. You will then be issued with prescriptions to cover the whole period until your next review, which you then take to the pharmacy where you will collect your regular medication without needing to visit the surgery until you are due for review.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow 48 hours (2 full working days) for prescriptions to be processed if you have handed it directly to the practice. You will need to allow 72 hours if handed it directly to a pharmacy. Please remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
